The 2014 USCAA Basketball National Championships will return to Penn State Fayette from March 4-8. During the week, Fayette County plays host to 34 teams and more than 1,500 participants and fans. As part of the event, the USCAA and Penn State Fayette seek team hosts to assist our traveling teams as they enjoy the tournament and all that the Laurel Highlands have to offer.
Team hosts are volunteers who serve as liaisons to our teams during their time in Uniontown. They provide information about the area, give directions, suggest restaurants and other activities, and generally support the team they are hosting. The only required time commitment is being available on Tuesday, March 4 during registration to meet your team and exchange contact information with your coaches. Team hosts are provided with a tournament t-shirt, are invited to the tournament banquet, receive a tournament pass and are recognized in our tournament program.
In the past team hosts have provided other services to their teams, including buying snacks and drinks, doing laundry and attending all of their teams games. This is not required by any team hosts, nor is any financial commitment! This volunteer opportunity is meant for you to serve as an ambassador for your hometown and help add to the experience of our student-athletes.
If you are interested in becoming a team host, please contact Jennifer Kooser at email@example.com and Bob Swope at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to seeing you at the USCAA National Championships!
There will be a team host meeting this Saturday, February 15th at 5:00pm. It will be held at Penn State Fayette in the Community Center Conference Room. If you are interested in being a team host and cannot attend the meeting, please contact Bob Swope at email@example.com.
